How this calculator works

Produced water trucking cost is driven by four levers: volume, haul distance, rate per loaded mile, and truck capacity. Most Permian vac trucks run 120–140 bbl capacity. Haul rates commonly land in the $3.00–$4.50 per loaded mile range as of 2026, with wide variation by market and availability.

This calculator only models the loaded-mile cost component. It does not include disposal fees (usually $0.25–$0.75 / bbl at the SWD), demurrage, fuel surcharges, producer-side pit handling, or overhead. Real contract economics should layer those in.
